VDOT warns of slick roads in Southwest Va.

BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises motorists to allow extra travel time this morning due to slick travel conditions in areas of southwestern Virginia.
The majority of primary highways in the region have scattered slick spots; however, secondary roads and side streets have snow and ice covered sections of roadway making them slick and hazardous.
In some of the higher elevations, such as Wise, Tazewell and Bland counties, motorists can expect ice-covered sections of roadway on main roads as well as secondary routes.
Additionally, crews are reporting slick spots on Route 23, Alternate 58 and Route 58 in southwestern Virginia, specifically in Lee, Scott and Wise counties.  Use caution in these areas.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and yield to snow plows and emergency services vehicles.
