How to Stay Safe During a Winter Storm


LEWISBURG (WVVA)- Fire Officials are calling carbon monoxide a silent killer.

During the winter some families use fossil fuels or kerosene heaters to keep warm. If you're not careful those heat source can be more harmful than helpful.

A few tips to keep safe are make sure you have a working fire alarm a long with a working carbon monoxide detector.

Never keep kerosene or space heaters running while you are asleep or away. The risk of carbon monoxide poisoning or a fire starting is higher in the winter season.
