Employer of missing Tazewell County man doubles reward money

VIRGINIA STATE POLICE NEWS RELEASE:  The reward offered for missing Tazewell County, Va., man, Eric G. Smith, doubled Wednesday (Dec. 31, 2013) in an effort to generate new leads in the case. Smith's employer, CONSOL Energy, has matched the $8,000 raised by family members to bring the reward to a total of $16,000. The reward is being offered for any information that leads to Smith's location and/or recovery.

"We appreciate the efforts by law enforcement in this case and hope that the increase in the reward will help law enforcement in its efforts to solve this case," said Cathy St. Clair, Public Affairs Director for CONSOL Energy.

Smith, 42, of Cedar Bluff, Va., was last seen Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. According to family, he headed out early that morning to go hunting on his property along West Hurt Buggy Road in Cedar Bluff. When he failed to return home that same evening, family members began searching for Smith and eventually called 911.
