Artists Alley open in Princeton

PRINCETON, W. Va (WVVA)-- Artists complete an important milestone in the Princeton Renaissance Project.

Artist's Alley across from the Princeton Library on Mercer Street  is done. A team of local artists and sculptors put up the finishing touches Saturday.

Two crafted steel arches-- are now hanging over the entrances to the alley, where the walls are decorated with 20 murals from artists across the area.

Organizers say this project says a lot about the volunteers who made it possible.

"They want to change things for the downtown area of Princeton. They want to get involved with something like what I'm doing today," said Michael Sizemore, an area artist and sculptor who is highly involved in the alley decoration.

"Whether you're being paid or volunteering-- be a part of something bigger," he encouraged.

The arches were designed by Brandon Dunn and made by Mike Sizemore.

Sizemore also tells us lights will be installed along the alley in the near future to further brighten the space, which will act as a  24-hour art gallery.
