Princeton, Pikeview Win To Advance To Championship

Posted:

PRINCETON, W.Va (WVVA) -- The Princeton Tigers wanted to come out and set the tone early against James Monroe, Friday night. But what they did probably surprised them.

The Tigers started the game on a 13-0 run and finished the first quarter with a 23-6 lead. James Monroe never recovered and the Tigers went on to win.

It's the first victory of the year for Princeton, which started the year 0-3. James Monroe is still looking for its first win. They're now 0-4.

Princeton will play Pikeview in the Alpha Natural Resources Tournament Championship game. The Mavericks will play Webster County in the consolation game.

Pikeview defeated Webster 79-56, in the first game of the night. Jason Weitzel led the Panthers with 24 points.
