Infants, mother injured in Wyoming County fire

MULLENS (WVVA) -- A family of nine is displaced just before Christmas, after a fire tears through their home.

It happened Saturday morning around 6 a.m. on Broadway Drive in Mullens, Wyoming County.

Four people were taken to the hospital, including two infants, a young boy, and an expectant mother.  One infant is in critical care at the Huntington Burn Center.  According to family members, the infant was burned on the face and hands.

"My son woke up because his baby was crying because he got burned. He kicked down my bedroom door and got us all out," said Peggy Fury, the child's grandmother.

Fury and her eight children and grandchildren are working with the Red Cross to find a home for Christmas.

Pineville and Mullens Fire Departments responded to the scene.

There is word yet on what started the fire.
