Iaeger Elementary School students, staff head back to class

BRADSHAW (WVVA) -- Classes are back in session for Iaeger Elementary School students and staff, but at a different location.

After the old building was deemed unsafe because of a slipping hillside, school officials found it best for the students to be split between River View High School and Bradshaw Elementary.

The schools are about 20 minutes away from Iaeger, but right next to each other.

Teachers say it'll be a little bit of a challenge getting students back into the swing of things after seven days off, but the first day at the new locations was better than expected.

"Things have gone really well.  We expected a few bumps in the road, but really we didn't have any this morning.  We did excellent,"  says Sheena Ashby, principal at Iaeger Elementary.

The new Iaeger Elementary will take about a year and a half to build, according to officials.  The students and staff will either stay at River View and Bradshaw for the full time or move into mobile units at Sandy River.
