Westside's Hope Lester Scores 1,000th Point

Posted:

BLUEFIELD, W.Va (WVVA) -- Hope Lester had no clue she was approaching 1,000 points for her career. She was surprised when Westside's game with Pikeview was stopped to recognize her achievement, especially since the game was at Pikeview.

Lester appreciated the classy move and thanked seemingly everyone after her momentous game. She led the Renegades to a big win over the Panthers, leading all scorers with 18 points. Her 4th quarter 12-foot jumper put her at 1,000 points. She surpassed the 1k mark a few possessions later with an easy layup.

"It's something I worked hard for all through my high school career," Lester said. "It feels great to get those points. It feels great to come out, look good and beat a good team."

Westside is the number one ranked AA girls basketball team. Pikeview is 8th. Westside travels to Belfry, Kentucky to play in their holiday tournament. Pikeview travels to Mount View, December 18.
