HUNTINGTON (WVVA) -- Police believe a body that was discovered under a bridge is that of a man who was reported missing last week.

Police said the body is believed to be that of Randy P. Martin, II, a Huntington man with Summers County ties.

He was reported missing on Tuesday after leaving his Westmoreland home. Police said the man was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The body was discovered by a passing towboat about 11:30 a.m. on a lower girder of the 17th Street Bridge.

Investigators are still on scene working to retrieve the body.

Martin's vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, was discovered on Friday in a Shoney's parking lot near the bridge.
