Fisher & Company Restaurant official opens in Tazewell

Tazewell, VA—Fisher & Company Restaurant opened today in the 1907 Pisgah Store at Crab Orchard Museum in Tazewell, VA with a ribbon cutting and celebration.  Owner Ashley Fisher was overwhelmingly pleased with the lunchtime turn-out.  "There were two people here at noon, and then suddenly it was packed!" The casual restaurant specializes in smoked barbecue, with an outdoor grill and smoker. The menu also features sandwiches, stuffed potatoes, adventurous side items, delicious salads, delectable desserts and a "Piglets" menu for kids.
The museum leases the historic building to Fisher & Company, as part of the educational mission of the organization.  In its day, the general store was a stop on the railroad line through Jeff Higginbotham's property on the opposite side of the Clinch River.  The museum acquired it through the generosity of the Higginbotham, Smoot and Fisher families over 13 years ago. The museum moved the building across the river to its property in 2005 and began the restoration, with the intention of adaptive use as a business to benefit the museum and its visitors and members.
"Having a restaurant in the store provides an important amenity for our visitors, along with our on-site guest accommodations at The Cottage at Crab Orchard," says Charlotte Whitted, Executive Director of Crab Orchard Museum.  "Even better, our museum members receive a 15% discount on renting The Cottage, a 15% discount in our museum shop and a 15% discount at Fisher & Company. There's never been a better time to join the membership."
Chairman of the Tazewell County Tourism Committee Joan Yates expressed her gratitude to Ashley Fisher with a heartfelt welcome. "We are so pleased to have the restaurant as another draw for tourism in our area.  We hope it will be a regular stop for Back of the Dragon riders as well."
Fisher & Company is located across the19- 460 highway from Crab Orchard Museum, at 1735 Pisgah Rd. between Kimberly's Greenhouse and Pisgah United Methodist Church.  The restaurant welcomes lunch customers 10:30 – 2:00 Tuesday – Friday and dinner patrons 4:30 – 8:00 Friday and Saturday.  Call 276-385-1150 for information or a faxed menu.
