Helping make business ideas become a reality

These days making an idea for a business become a reality can sometimes be difficult.

Tuesday morning Concord University hosted a workshop centered around small business growth and opportunities in Southern West Virginia.

The Third Congressional District has been awarded a business accelerator grant for three years to provide guidance from experts to get business ideas started.

The assistance is free.

"To help people who even have an idea scratched on the back of a napkin understand the process between getting that sketch on the napkin into a bona fide business. That can be tourism, manufacturing or any other idea someone might have," says Dr. Susan Williams of Concord University.

The 3rd District Accelerator provides integrated business support efforts and technical assistance, including grantsmanship workshops, training and workforce development, e-business marketing and entrepreneurial support, and advanced manufacturing tools/capabilities.

The Third District Accelerator is funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Appalachian Regional Commission. The Third District Accelerator operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability in accordance with the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
