Princeton High Band to play at Capitol tree lighting

PRINCETON (NEWS RELEASE) -- The award-winning Princeton High School Marching Band will perform on the south steps of the WV Capitol Building tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at 6:00 PM.  The band will herald the arrival of Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and the First Lady, playing seasonal and patriotic selections during the tree lighting ceremony.

According to Director Julia Kade, the band received its invitation last spring.  "Randall Reid-Smith, Commissioner of Culture and History, asked us to come.  Last year the Cabell-Midland band performed."  According to Kade, other musical ensembles including choirs will be performing at the Capitol Complex tomorrow evening, as well.

"The annual tree lighting is a big event for legislators, military personnel, and area residents," Kade said.  "We will play for about 30 minutes and stay for a photo opportunity with the governor."
