How can you better remember to take your medications? Send a reminder on your phone.

(WVVA) – A new study reveals heart patients are more likely to take their medications when they get reminders via text message.

Patients who got daily text reminders for one month had a 16 to 17 percent higher rate of taking the correct dose at the right time compared to patients who did not get texts.

Researchers say this simple, inexpensive method could be an affective way to improve medication adherence and lower a patient's risk for heart complications or death.
