Defenses gaining upper hand in the ACC

While scores in college football's other power conferences can imitate video game numbers, the Atlantic Coast Conference is a bit of a throwback.
ACC teams average just 23.8 points per game in conference play, a full touchdown less than the schools in the Pac 12.
While coaches allow the pace of play in the ACC is a bit slower than in other conferences, they also praise the league's talent level.
The ACC has produced 21 defensive ends or outside linebackers taken in the first two rounds of the NFL draft since 2006, easily the most of any conference.
Syracuse coach Scott Schafer says there's more speed on the field in the ACC than the defenses the Orange saw in the Big East, especially in the secondary.
