UPDATE:  BLUEFIELD, W. Va (WVVA)-- A brush fire burns 5 acres in Mercer County.

Green Valley-Glenwood and Bluewell fire departments responded to a brush fire around 5:45 PM on Bull Tail Hollow Road in the Bluefield area.

Firefighters on-scene said no structures have burned and as of 7:30 PM, the fire was about 75% contained.

No residents are in immediate danger.

About 12 firefighters worked the flanks of the fire, maintaining fire lines in the woods on the hillside.

Firefighters say the fire started when a resident was burning paper in the backyard and became out of control due to dry conditions and low humidity.

Fire crews urge people to refrain from outdoor burning until another rain.

Another, smaller brush fire was also burning on Eads Mill Road in Princeton Monday night.  As of 10:15 PM, all crews had cleared each scene.
