CEDAR BLUFF (WVVA) - Search and rescue crews have suspended their search to find the missing hunter, 41-year-old Eric Smith.

The search expanded to the Seaboard and Big Creek areas outside of Richlands this week, yet crews have not been able to find Smith.

The search is not expected to continue until any new leads come available.

However, you are still encouraged to be on the lookout for Smith and if you have any information you are asked to call 911.

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. (WVVA) -- The search continues for a man who went missing Friday morning.

Eric Smith, 41, was last seen leaving his Cedar Bluff home to go hunting in the woods around 10 a.m.

Chief David Mills with the Cedar Bluff Police Department tells WVVA News that the search area has been expanded to include the Seaboard and Big Creek areas outside Richlands.

Mills said approximately 30 volunteers -- most with the Search and Rescue Team from the Buchanan 1 Mine -- are participating in the search efforts.

Mills added that the cold temperatures, coupled with the terrain, are making search efforts difficult.

Family members and friends told police they were very concerned when Smith failed to return from his hunt Friday.

If you see anyone who looks lost or disoriented, or if you have any other information on Smith's whereabouts, you are asked to call 911.

Residents should not be alarmed if they see lights, dogs or police searching.
