VA precincts prepare for Election Day

TAZEWELL, Va (WVVA)-- Election officials from the 24 precincts in Tazewell County came to get sworn in Monday before working Election Day on Tuesday.

They also picked up equipment needed for the election. That includes voting machines, which have been tested and re-tested before being programmed, then sealed until Election Day.

Tazewell County voter registrar Brian Earls shared a tip with WVVA to help keep lines moving at the polls.

"Be prepared with your identification. We do require every person that votes to have identification," he said. "A driver's license would be fine, or your voter ID card would be preferable."

Starting at 5 AM Tuesday, volunteers actually set up those voting machines.

The polls open at 6 AM and close at 7 PM, but Earls says you shouldn't worry about limited mobility while heading to the polls. The county offers curbside voting for those who are elderly or disabled.

"Just send someone in with your ID to sign you up," he said. "You have to register just like everyone else. And then we will bring a voting machine out to your car for you to vote. So don't let that stop you from voting today!"

Stay tuned to WVVA for live election coverage throughout the day and into the evening.
