Tomblin releases clue as to what caused deadly W.Va. house fire

ELKINS (WVVA) -- A cigarette could be to blame for starting a deadly house fire in Elkins, West Virginia this past week.

That's according to a column posted by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin on Friday.  State fire marshals still have not officially released what the cause is though.

The two survivors remain in critical condition at a burn center in Pittsburgh.

Tomblin adds in his report that there have been more than 50 deaths from fires in West Virginia this year.

The Elkins home from this story did not have working smoke alarms.
