Two arrested in Bluefield Pot Bust


BLUEFIELD W.Va (WVVA) -- Police have arrested a man and a woman after finding five pounds of marijuana in their apartment.

Around 2:30 Thursday afternoon, the Bluefield Fire Department notified the Bluefield Police Department that carbon monoxide detectors were going off in an apartment building off of Frederick Street in Bluefield West Virginia.

According to Patrolman Ramsey, when police arrived on scene, they could smell burning marijuana.  Patrolmen Ramsey, Bish and Adams returned at 5:00 Thursday with a warrant to search the apartment.

The officers found five pounds of marijuana inside a unit occupied by Latoya Hairston and Lashawn Balance.

Hairston and Balance are being charged with possession of marijuana and conspiracy.
