Raleigh County man convicted of operating open dump

BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) -- A Raleigh County man has been ordered to clean up his property after being convicted of operating an open dump.
Charles Keller also must pay a $300 fine. He faces a 90-day jail sentence if his property isn't cleaned up by his next court appearance in December.
The 74-year-old Keller denies that his property is an open dump. He tells The Register-Herald that it's more like a trading post.
Keller also says he has health problems and isn't able to clean up his property.
Keller's property is located on Fitzpatrick Road outside Beckley. It has several junked automobiles, scrap metal, lumber, an old camper and other items.
Raleigh County Solid Waste Authority education director Sherrie Hunter says the property has been an issue since 2002.
