(WVVA) – Teens should limit their time spent on electronic devices.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says teens should be limited to two hours of screen time a day.

The average eight to ten year old spends eight hours a day exposed to media like phones, tablets and computers. They spend 11 hours in front of TV screens.

Experts say there are plenty of educational media out there. However, teens aren't always using media as educational tools.

Unrestricted access to these forms of media has been linked to obesity, sleep trouble and issues at school.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says parents should limit the amount of time teens spend texting and using social media to two hours each day.
