Superstorm Sandy Anniversary: Costs and local impacts

(WVVA)- Superstorm Sandy is officially the second costliest storm in U.S. history dating back to 1900 when these records were first kept.

Earlier this year, the National Hurricane Center released a detailed report about the impacts of the storm, which states that Sandy caused a total of over 50 billion dollars in damage.

Across Appalachian Power's territory in West Virginia, heavy snow left about 182,000 customers without power.
