Mercer County family: Cougar prowling near our home

BRAMWELL, W. Va (WVVA)-- A Mercer County family is disturbed after they catch what they say is a cougar prowling on their property in Bramwell.

Surveillance video reveals the animal, which the family says is bigger than their dog, hunting deer close to the house.

Eastern cougars have been declared extinct in this area, but Kevin Tickle, who found the cougar on his surveillance tapes, says it's here.

He adds, it's a safety concern for their pets and his 6-month-old grandson.

A professor from Wythe Community College is working with them to study the animal.

They hope it will leave soon, or else the family will have to make plans to catch it.
