FOLLOW UP: Public tips lead to arrest of Hinton break in suspect

HINTON (WVVA) - Hinton Police credit public tips in the arrest of a man wanted in a car wash break in.


Timothy Mark Kinser, 47 of Beckley was arrested Thursday and charged with a felony count of Destruction of Property, Petit Larceny, and Driving Suspended Miscellaneous in connection with a break in at the River Wash carwash in Hinton on Oct. 15.

According to Chief Derek Snavely, within 90 minutes of his department releasing video images of the suspect to the public on Wednesday, he was identified.

On Thursday, an arrest warrant was issued and Kinser was picked up arrested by the Beckley Police. 

Kinser is currently on parole for breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit burglary.
"We'd like to send our sincere thanks to everyone who gave information and tips to help us identify Mr. Kinser," Snavely said. "We rely heavily on public support to solve all types of crimes. This is a great example of people coming together and working with their Police Department to catch criminals. I'd also like to thank the media for the quick dissemination of the photos which ultimately led to the investigation and arrest of Mr. Kinser."



HINTON (WVVA) - Police in Hinton are seeking a man caught on camera breaking into the Riverwash Car Wash.

Chief Derek Snavely with the Hinton PD said the break-in occurred in the early-morning hours of Oct. 15. A white male can be seen on camera breaking into vacuums at the car wash, causing damage and making off with a small amount of change.

The suspect was driving a U-Haul van. Snavely said the suspect visited the nearby Go-Mart before leaving the area.
