Gas prices down in Va., up in W.Va.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Gasoline prices in Virginia have fallen by an average of seven cents per gallon since last month.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports that the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Virginia was $3.17 Tuesday. That's down from $3.24 a month ago and 17 cents less than the national average.

Meanwhile, in West Virginia, the price of a gallon of gas increased by about a penny from last week, to $3.41 for regular unleaded.

While still above the national average by seven cents, West Virginia's average is down by about 31 cents from the same time last year. The Triple A says it expects gas prices to fall in the months to come because of supplies, flat demand and cheaper winter-blend gasoline. The organization predicts a national average of $3.10 to $3.20 per gallon by Christmas.
