PRINCETON (WVVA) - Two lanes of Interstate 77 southbound were briefly closed just outside Princeton Monday as crews worked to contain an automobile fire.

The fire occurred just around 1:20 p.m. near the 11 mile marker.

No injuries were reported. The SUV -- which was fully engulfed in flames -- was from North Carolina.

According to an account from a WVVA viewer on Facebook, traffic was backed up to the area of the Athens exit -- Exit 14 -- at 2:15 p.m.

The highway has since been reopened.

Princeton Rescue and East River Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
