Will Farmers Markets in Lewisburg Combine or Stay Separate?

LEWISBURG (WVVA)- There are currently two farmers markets in downtown Lewisburg less than a mile away from each other.

The developers of the Fort Savannah Project envisioned creating a park to bring together farmers from the two markets and from the region.

However, combining the two entities may be difficult. President of the Lewisburg Farmers Market, Paul Brenner says, the members of the market split to start the Greenbrier Valley Farmers Market because "There was a difference in opinion on how to govern internally and what was decided was that instead of having some internal strife that the best decision would be to separate into two groups that could then autonomously work well."

If the markets don't combine there may just be three in downtown Lewisburg.
