WELCH, W. Va (WVVA)-- A McDowell County woman is charged Wednesday in connection with her husband's death.

Trooper JR Coburn of the West Virginia State Police said the woman pictured at left, 20-year-old Chayna Eskins, 20, of War, gave her husband the drugs that killed him.

His name is Samuel Saunders. Coburn said Saunders died after taking opiates in December of 2012 at home in War.

In their investigation, police found Chayna had given him the drugs, and then he took them.

According to state law, Coburn said Eskins can be charged with first degree murder for giving her husband drugs, after he died as a result of taking them.

Coburn said police have filed warrants on first degree murder as well as delivery of a controlled substance charges against Eskins.

Eskins is currently in Southwest Regional Jail on another pending charge of possession of a controlled substance.
