Man arrested for allegedly downloading child erotica on library computer

WELCH, W. Va (WVVA)-- A man is arrested for allegedly downloading child erotica in a public library.

Trooper Jason Weiss with the West Virginia State Police Detachment in Welch said Brian Keith Johnson, 38, of Bradshaw, confessed to downloading at least 30 images on a Bradshaw Public Library computer.

They depicted child erotica, which Weiss describes as lude photos of girls aged 5-10 in various positions.

Weiss says none of the pictures actually depicted intercourse, thereby classifying the photos as "erotica" instead of "pornography."

Police charged Johnson with 30 counts of downloading child erotica-- one for each picture.

The investigation began last February, Weiss said, but Johnson was arrested and arraigned before Magistrate Van Dyke Tuesday night on $50,000 cash-only bond.

The computer's hard drive is being examined in Charleston to determine if any other images were downloaded. Trooper Weiss says the case is still under investigation, and more charges could be on the way.
