Water main break closes businesses on Bluefield Ave.

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - A water main break on Bluefield Avenue has forced several businesses to close.

According to Laura Jordan with West Virginia American Water, the break occurred in an 8-inch cast iron main overnight.

Water was quickly shut off, but crews are still working to locate the exact location of the break.

Jordan says a total of five businesses in the area are affected, but traffic in the area should not be.

A spokesperson for Wee Tots Day Care tells WVVA News that their location on the avenue is closed today. Hardee's restaurant on the avenue is also closed.

Jordan said a boil water advisory has not been issued for any customers in the area at this time.

Crews anticipate having service restored by 5 p.m. -- if not sooner.
