BLUEFIELD, W. Va. (WVVA)- As the Salvation Army prepares for the winter months ahead, one local office has run into a major problem that could affect how much help it can offer families needing heating assistance.
The Bluefield Salvation Army doesn't even have a fraction of the amount of money it needs to help those families in need of heating assistance.
Captain Jerry Lester of the Bluefield branch tells WVVA that last month he asked for 25 to 30 thousand dollars.
This money is vital for helping those in need pay for gas and electric bills.
It also goes to ensuring that the Bluefield Salvation Army can open its doors to provide a warm shelter when winter weather strikes.
In other words, donations are desperately needed.
The Bluefield Salvation Army is also looking for bell ringers for the upcoming holiday season.
If you would like to donate to the Bluefield branch, you can send your donation to P.O. Box 818, Bluefield, WV 24701.
