BLUEFIELD, W.Va (WVVA) -- The Virginia Tech Hokies continue to move their way up the Associated Press Top 25 poll. They cracked the top 25 last week and moved up five spots to no. 19 this week. Losses by Northwestern and Michigan allowed the big jump, the second largest jump by a team this week.
Virginia Tech (6-1, 3-0 ACC) defeated Pitt (3-2, 2-2 ACC) 19-9 at Lane Stadium, Saturday. The Hokies haven't lost since their week one defeat to no. 1 Alabama. The defense continues to lead the way. The Hokies have the nation's 4th ranked defense and lead the nation in sacks and are tied for first in interceptions.
Virginia Tech also sits at no. 20 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Also, the NCAA's first BCS Poll comes out a week from Sunday.
The Hokies are now in their bye week. They play Duke at home October 26.
