Two Teenagers Die in a Head on Crash in Marmet

MARMET (WVVA)- Two Teenagers died in a car crash on Saturday night in Kanawha County.

The accident happened in the 7800 block of Maccorkle Avenue around 9:45 p.m.

According to Troopers, one of the teenagers was driving a Ford F-150 going southbound on Route 61 when he tried to pass a car. He then struck a Chevy S-10 head on in the northbound lanes.

The teenage drivers of the Chevy S-10 and the Ford F-150 both died. A teenage girl, who was a passenger in the Chevy S-10, was taken to CAMC General with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

Friends of the victims say all three of the teenagers were either current students or recent graduates of Riverside High School. Their names have not been released at this time.

Troopers believe alcohol didn't play a role in the accident.
