CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Eight public schools in West Virginia are getting new musical instruments from the VH1 Save The Music Foundation program.

The Division of Culture and History said Thursday that each school will receive $30,000 worth of clarinets, flutes and other instruments.

Schools joining the program this year are Beckley-Stratton Middle School in Raleigh County, George Washington Middle School in Putnam County, Horace Mann Middle School in Kanawha County, Milton Middle School in Cabell County, Summers Middle School in Summers County, Summersville Middle School in Nicholas County, Trap Hill Middle School in Raleigh County and Wahama Junior/Senior High School in Mason County.

The program is a partnership between the foundation and the state agency.

The agency says 43 schools have received more than $1 million worth of instruments since 2010.
