UPDATE: Deer causes rollover on I-77

FLAT TOP (WVVA) - A vehicle traveling on Interstate 77 flipped Thursday morning after attempting to avoid hitting a deer.

The car from Ohio was headed southbound on I-77 near mile marker 26 in the Flat Top area when it swerved to avoid striking a deer that had run onto the roadway.

The car first swerved left, clipped another vehicle, then swerved right, flipped and struck the embankment.

Two occupants of the vehicle were transported to Raleigh General Hospital as a precautionary measure.

No other injuries were reported.


FLAT TOP (WVVA) - Crews were responding to reports of a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 77 in the Flat Top area Thursday morning.

According to dispatchers, the accident was reported around 7:15 a.m. near mile marker 26.

At least one lane of southbound traffic was reported closed.
