WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (AP) -- Appalachian Regional Healthcare is acquiring Williamson Memorial Hospital.

The nonprofit health system says it's signed a definitive agreement to acquire the 76-bed acute care hospital from a subsidiary of Health Management Associates. The acquisition is expected to be completed in February 2014.

Appalachian spokeswoman Melissa Cornett tells the Williamson Daily News that details of the deal will be released later.

Appalachian serves 350,000 residents in eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia.
