WELCH (WVVA) - A McDowell County corrections officer finds herself on the other side of the law.

26-year old Stephanie Day of Pageton is charged with allowing unauthorized items into a holding facility run by the county over a six-month period, according to Sgt. Kane with the West Virginia State Police.

The charges against Day were developed from another case on Friday in which investigators say 20-year old Cheyna Eskins of Welch allegedly mailed controlled substances to the regional jail in Logan County from the McDowell County Courthouse.

Day is free on bond. Eskins remains in the Southwestern Regional Jail.
