12 month investigation leads to three dozen arrested in Tazewell Co. drug roundup

TAZEWELL COUNTY (WVVA) -- A 12 month investigation leads to the arrest of 36 people in a drug roundup in Tazewell County.

18 others are still wanted by police. A total of 170 indictments were handed down by the grand jury.

It was a collaborative effort from several law enforcement agencies in Tazewell County including the Tazewell County Narcotics Task Force, Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, Richlands Police Department, Tazewell Police Department, Bluefield Police Department, Virginia State Police, and Cedar Bluff Police Department.

Tazewell County Commonwealth's Attorney Dennis Lee says prescriptions drugs continue to be the drugs of choice in the county.

In the past roundup, Lee says the concentration was on the Bluefield area. This recent roundup moved to the western part of the state and the majority of the people round up were from the Richlands area.
