SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Kanawha County officials have lifted a shelter in place that was issued following a chemical leak at a plant in South Charleston.

County manager Jennifer Sayer says Clearon reported a leak of chlorinated dry bleach to Metro 911 and emergency management officials on Wednesday morning.

The county issued a shelter in place around 9:30 a.m. for an area in South Charleston west of the Mound, Spring Hill and Dunbar. The shelter in place was lifted about 40 minutes later.

Clearon did not immediately return a telephone message.
