Sisters raise drunk-driving awareness in brother's memory

Posted:

GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVVA) - Losing a loved one to drunk driving is something that no family wants to go through.

Two sisters, Shana Hamrick and Angel Alder lost their younger brother Johnny to a drunk driving accident in 2011.

Sunday, the sisters walked the Greenbrier River Trail to raise awareness for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Shana and Angel hope that they can reach out to at least one person to prevent someone from driving drunk.

"We miss him but it makes us feel proud that we're doing something positive," Shana said.  "Because he didn't have to die for nothing. We are going to do something positive and his memory is going to live on with us."

The sisters hope to start a MADD chapter in Greenbrier County for those families who need support after losing a loved one to drunk driving.
