Tazewell 911 center getting upgrades

The Tazewell County 911 Center is in the home stretch of a $75,000 upgrade.

One of the biggest improvements is more work stations.

Currently there are four stations at the center.

Plans call for adding two more, meaning six dispatchers can be on duty at one time at the 911 center.

Authorities believe the additional work areas will come in handy, especially during emergency situations when call volume tends to increase.

The upgrades are expected to be finished by the end of October.
