SBA responds to Meadow Bridge High School potential consolidation

MEADOW BRIDGE (WVVA) -- The West Virginia School Building Authority would support students at Meadow Bridge High School crossing county lines, if that's what consolidation came down to.

The final decision is up to the State Board of Education and people of Fayette County.  They'll be voting in October whether or not to remove Meadow Bridge from the consolidation plans for a year.  The School Building Authority just decides what to fund.

"I could not speculate on a vote," says Dr. Mark Manchin as to whether or not they would approve continued funding for Meadow Bridge High School.  "But we need to keep spending efficient."

Students, staff and teachers at Meadow Bridge have all agreed that they don't let thoughts of consolidation affect their day to day lives at school, but majority would like to stay put, citing long travel times.
