Tazewell authorities believe sexual predator nearing freedom has more victims

TAZEWELL (WVVA) - Tazewell County authorities believe that a convicted child predator scheduled to be released next year has more victims that have yet to come forward.

Paris Parker of Cedar Bluff was convicted of two counts of statutory rape in 1996 and was eventually sentenced to 20 years in prison. Authorities say Parker sexually molested two under aged boys.

Because Parker worked closely with children as a volunteer and school janitor, authorities believe there may be more victims who have yet to come forward.

Now, with Parker set to be released from the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Va., on Dec. 8, 2014, authorities are asking any other victims to come forward.

"We feel that over a period of some time, for many years, he put himself in positions to have access to children," Commonwealth Attorney Dennis Lee told NBC affiliate WCYB.

If you or someone you know has been victimized by Parker -- or any other sexual predator -- Lee says you are encouraged to contact your local law enforcement.

In Virginia, there is no statute of limitations on these types of crimes so it is not too late to speak out.
