Bridge Issues in West Virginia

GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVVA)- A new study shows that one hundred and seventy eight bridges in the State of West Virginia are deemed "fracture critical" and "structurally deficient."

The state mandates that bridges be inspected every two years.

If inspectors find that a bridge is in need of more maintenance, crews from the WVDOH will perform maintenance on it as much as necessary.

Some changes include reducing the weight limit or replacing parts of the bridge itself.

Members of the WVDOH say that drivers shouldn't be concerned about crossing the bridges as long as they follow the limit restrictions.
