TAZEWELL (WVVA) – Registration for the first annual TJ Rasnick Memorial Golf Tournament is open.

Mother, Jill Rasnick organized this golf tournament in memory of her son to raise funds for the new locker room at the James C. Ramey, Sr. Athletic Training Facility in Tazewell.

The locker room will be named after TJ.

TJ was considered a star athlete for the class of 2009 at Tazewell High School. He was diagnosis with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of childhood cancer in 2008.

TJ finished his race with this disease in 2010. His mother says he just wanted to be remembered.

By naming the locker room after him, his mother believes generations of athletes will ask about his story and learn of his strength.

The golf tournament will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Wolf Creek Golf Course.

A shotgun start begins at nine in the morning.

Participates can play for $60.00 a person or $240 for a team of four.

To register for this, contact Brenda Duty at 276-688-4610 or Jill Rasnick at 276-979-7100. You can also mail in your entries to: Tazewell Athletic Foundation, PO Box 473, North Tazewell, VA 24630.
