Local educators react to new survey on cheating in the classroom

(WVVA)- Harvard University has surveyed its incoming college freshman asking them if they've ever cheated in high school.

42 percent of those surveyed said yes.

Additionally, Stanford University put out a fact sheet that says 75 to 98 percent of college students surveyed across the country have admitted to cheating in high school.

Faculty members at Bluefield College are not surprised by these alarming statistics, citing that the pressure to get into college and out-compete fellow students is greater than ever before

However, the faculty and students of the College agree that by not cheating, young people will be better prepared to begin the next stage of their lives, whether it be college or entering the workforce.
