IAEGER (WVVA) - A McDowell County man is dead and another behind bars after a fatal shooting in the Iaeger area Friday evening.

McDowell County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the Lickbranch area around 5:45 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found 25-year-old Jessie Lee Owens -- of the Iaeger area -- dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies then arrested 37-year-old Dwight Key II -- also of the Iaeger area -- and charged him with first-degree murder.

Key has been arraigned and is being held without bond at the McDowell County Holding Unit, awaiting transport to Southwestern Regional Jail.

The cause of the shooting is under investigation.

McDowell County Sheriff's Deputies responded to reports of the shooting -- near Iaeger -- at approximately 5:45 p.m.

One person has been confirmed dead of a gun shot. Another has been detained for questioning.
