Princeton murder case bound to grand jury

PRINCETON (WVVA) - The case against a woman charged in connection with the murder of a Mercer County resident is headed to the grand jury.

Latasha Kanode was in Magistrate Court in Bluefield for a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Kanode -- along with 32-year old Steven McDonald of Bluefield -- are accused of robbing and killing 44-year old Sherry Matthews at her Princeton home in July.

A second victim, 41-year-old Edward Thomas, was wounded in the incident.

Both McDonald and Kanode face charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, robbery, burglary and conspiracy.

McDonald's hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
