Cashing In Funny Money Across the Area

OAK HILL (WVVA) – The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on several counterfeit bills that were passed in the area on Saturday, August 31, 2013.

The Sheriff's Office has confirmed that three $100.00 bills and the $50.00 bill received were counterfeit.

Sheriff Steve Kessler released the following information: "Two females from the local area reported that they had been at The Spotlight nightclub in Oak Hill and had met four young black males who were freely handing out money to "all of the pretty girls" in the bar. These females stated these individuals were passing out $100.00 and $50.00 bills and were paying for drinks at the bar using $20.00 bills. These females were suspicious that these bills were counterfeit and checked them at a local convenience store the following day. After confirming that these bills were counterfeit, the girls then contacted the Sheriff's Office to report this."

This incident remains under investigation by Deputy C.M. Fitzwater and the Deputy C.M. Fitzwater and the Detective Bureau of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and by the United States Secrete Service.
