FAYETTEVILLE (NEWS RELEASE) -- A Fayetteville man is in jail after being arrested on burglary charges late Thursday night. Sheriff Steve Kessler released the following information concerning this arrest:

At approximately 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2013, notification was received of a residential burglary that had occurred earlier that afternoon in the Fayetteville area. It was reported that someon...e had broken a window of a residence and had stolen several firearms from this residence. Officers from the Sheriff's Detective Bureau responded to the scene. They were assisted by other officers from the Fayetteville Police Department.

During the preliminary investigation into this incident, investigators were able to develop a suspect, an individual who had previously resided with the victim. After locating this individual in the Hilltop area of Fayette County, investigators were able to gain enough information to recover the stolen firearms and take the suspect into custody.

Mason Vaughn Campbell, age 20, of Fayetteville, WV was arrested and charged with the felony offense of Daytime burglary and with the misdemeanor offenses of Petit Larceny and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. He was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail pending his arraignment in the Fayette County Magistrate Court earlier this morning.

This incident remains under investigation by the Detective Bureau of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and by the Fayetteville Police Department.
